Every FableBox arrives in a custom hinged tin (4 × 4 × 1 in, matte black with a gold foil lid) and ships with the full adventure loaded and ready to run. The complete contents of the First Kit are:
The digital companion is the VTT import files plus everything that drops in over time. It ships free with every physical box — you do not pay separately for the digital tier.
After your kit arrives, the companion is unlocked through your member link and includes monthly adventure content drops (short side-quests, NPCs, and encounter hooks designed to extend the campaign without shipping another physical box), adventure errata as the community plays the module, and fresh revised map packs and NPC stat blocks alongside the original VTT import files in Foundry, Roll20, and D&D Beyond formats.
There is no standalone monthly subscription you have to buy separately. The subscription is the digital companion that comes free with the physical kit — and the kit is the only way to get it today.
The kit bundles the subscription: every physical box includes the member-link bundle that unlocks the digital companion, so the kit is the first month of the subscription by default. Each subsequent cycle adds new digital content (VTT updates, side-quests, encounter hooks, errata) at no extra charge — the cycles continue month-to-month as long as you keep your membership active.
If you want the digital companion without buying a kit, you'll be able to add it at checkout when subscription-only digital licenses become available. For now, the kit is the subscription.
Pre-orders. Placing a pre-order does not charge your card immediately. We only run the charge once the kit is actually ready to ship — so if a slot opens up and you change your mind before the kit is packed, you can cancel with no fee at all.
After delivery. If your kit arrives and something is off — damaged in transit, missing a component, not what you expected — you have 30 days from the delivery date to request a full refund on unopened tins. Just reply to the shipping email with your order number and we'll cover return shipping.
The subscription. There is no contract. You can cancel your digital companion any time before the next content cycle ships via the same member link that unlocked your companion — no support ticket, no cancellation fee, no email back-and-forth. The kit you already own is yours either way.
The First Kit is launching to US addresses in August 2026. Domestic shipping is flat-rate and included in the kit price; you will not see a separate shipping line at checkout.
International shipping (Canada, EU, UK, AU/NZ) is on the roadmap but is not available at the August 2026 launch. We're working through fulfillment partners and customs paperwork before opening up non-US orders — adding it before it's reliable would mean late kits and angry customers, which is the opposite of what a FableBox is for.
If you live outside the US, the right move today is to join the waitlist with a note that you're international; you'll be the first to hear when we open up shipping to your region in a future drop.
From order to door, the timeline runs in four steps:
1. Pre-order. You place an order (or join the waitlist and receive a purchase link when slots open). No charge runs against your card until the kit is actually ready to ship. 2. Kit assembly. We hand-pack each tin in small batches — tin, module, miniatures, maps, NPC deck, dice, DM screen, VTT files. Quality-checked before it goes in the box. 3. Ship. Domestic orders go out via tracked ground. You'll get a tracking number the day the carrier scans it. 4. Door. Most US addresses receive kits within 5–10 business days of shipment.
Today, the only way to lock a spot is to join the waitlist — we open ordering in waves, and waitlist members get the first wave. After August 2026, this page will update with live shipping windows.
A FableBox ships with pre-painted miniatures, pre-wired VTT walls, lighting, and journals, a DM screen printed with the actual reference tables you need at the table (conditions, DCs, encounter math), and an NPC stat-card deck so nobody is flipping through a book mid-session. The prep is done before the tin is sealed.
Compared to buying a published PDF module on its own, the difference is hours of stat-block transcription, miniature painting, and map hand-drawing that simply do not happen with a FableBox. You open the tin, lay out the maps, drop the minis, hand the players the dice — and you are running the module in minutes rather than spending a weekend getting to the point where you could.
